Does the complexity of chronic illness management overwhelm you? Do you struggle to navigate the paperwork, the emotions, the lifestyle changes that illness brings. Do you want to help your patients get on top of the project that is illness?
Everyone who deals with illness, whether patient, caregiver, provider, or administrator, deals with a complex mixture of personal, technical, institutional, and spiritual issues. A detailed map is necessary if one is to find a coherent way to manage them. Using models from integral theory (a meta theory of reality), course participants look through different windows that illuminate interior and exterior challenges, get an understanding of how different people involved in illness care see the world and how to work across some of these divides, and look inside themselves for the resources to handle this difficult koan (a spiritual puzzle) that they have been given.
